Appointment of Rishi Kumar Shukla as CBI Director

  • The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, on the basis of the panel constituted under Section 4A (1) of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, on the basis of the panel recommended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Mr. Rishi Kumar Shukla, IPS officer of the 1983 batch, Has appointed the appointment as the Director of CBI.
  • This appointment will be valid for two years after assuming office.
  • He will replace former Director, Mr. Alok Kumar Verma.

World Wet Land Day: February 2

  • The Madras High Court has instructed to immediately terminate the system of negative marks in the entrance examination of prestigious educational institutions like IITs.
  • Decision on the petition of a student who failed six years ago due to Negative Marks in the IIT Entry Examination, said that negative marking in competing examinations is not legally suitable.
  • Due to the negative marking of this decision, applicants who are not enrolled in prestigious educational institutions will get great relief.

  • The Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) School and Diving School has earned runner-up status.
  • Boat Pulling Regatta is one of the most prestigious and traditional naval sports activities run by the Navy.
  • Six teams formed from all the major units of the SNC located in Kochi attended Regatta.

‘Africa Center for Climate’ launches in Rome

  • The ‘Africa Center for Climate and Sustainable Development’ was launched in Rome on January 29, 2019.
  • The center has been established by the government of Italy and the United Nations.

Dolphin Punjab declared as aquatic animal

  • On February 1, 2019, the dolphin of the endangered Indus river has been declared as the aquatic animal of the state of Punjab.
  • In Punjab, the Indus river dolphins are found mainly in the Satluj and Vyas rivers.

  • A total of 81 players participated in the qualifying tournament, out of which the top-20 earned the card for LPGA
